Bespoke Case: Customized Quartz Glass Handling Truck for Safe and Precise Material Handling



Project Overview
SINOLIFT recently developed a customized Quartz Glass Handling Truck for the safe lifting, clamping, transporting, and positioning of large cylindrical quartz glass components.
Because quartz glass products are fragile, smooth-surfaced, and often costly to replace, conventional manual handling can create considerable risks. The customer required a dedicated solution that could securely handle cylinders of different diameters while reducing manual effort and minimizing the possibility of slipping, collision, or breakage.
Based on the customer’s material dimensions and operating requirements, SINOLIFT designed and manufactured a specialized electric handling truck integrating powered travel, hydraulic lifting, and controlled clamping functions.
Customer Handling Challenges
The materials involved in this project presented several practical challenges:
- Large cylindrical shape and smooth contact surfaces
- Fragile material requiring controlled handling
- Different cylinder diameters within the same operation
- High risk of damage during manual lifting and positioning
- Need for accurate placement at different working heights
- Limited accessibility around the material during handling
A standard forklift, stacker, or general-purpose clamp attachment could not fully meet these requirements. The equipment therefore needed to be developed around the shape, weight, and vulnerability of the customer’s quartz glass products.
SINOLIFT Bespoke Solution
SINOLIFT designed a compact counterbalanced handling truck with a rated capacity of 200 kg and a maximum lifting height of approximately 1600 mm.
The machine combines several operations in one unit:
- Electric travel
- Electric hydraulic lifting
- Powered hydraulic clamping
- Adjustable lifting and clamping speeds
- Controlled positioning of cylindrical materials
- Emergency manual brake-release function
The counterbalanced structure allows the machine to approach the material without requiring supporting legs beneath the load, making it suitable for applications where access around the bottom of the quartz glass component is restricted.
Interchangeable Clamping System
One of the most important features of this customized solution is its interchangeable clamping structure.
The machine can accommodate cylindrical materials with diameters ranging from approximately 300 mm to 1000 mm through two clamp configurations:
- Small clamp assembly for diameters of approximately 300-550 mm
- Large clamp assembly for diameters of approximately 550-1000 mm
This interchangeable design allows one machine to handle multiple material sizes, improving flexibility and reducing the need for separate handling equipment.
The principal clamping components are manufactured from 304 stainless steel, providing durability and suitability for clean industrial environments. Protective nylon contact surfaces help reduce direct metal contact and lower the risk of scratching, impact, or localized damage to the quartz glass.
Additional Safety Support
To further protect the material, the equipment includes a removable bottom safety support.
Once the cylinder has been securely clamped, the support can be positioned beneath the load to provide an additional layer of protection during lifting and transportation. This helps reduce the risk of accidental dropping if unexpected movement occurs.
The combination of controlled hydraulic clamping and bottom support provides greater security than relying on clamping force alone.
Battery-Powered Operation
The handling truck is powered by two 12V/85Ah maintenance-free lead-acid batteries.
Electric travel reduces the physical effort required to move heavy materials, while powered lifting and clamping allow the operator to complete the handling process with improved consistency and control.
Adjustable hydraulic speed also enables smoother movement when approaching, lifting, or positioning fragile materials.
